Dyslexia simply means difficulty with words..Dys-difficulty and lexia-words. It is a disorder manifested by difficulties in learning to read, despite conventional instruction, adequate intelligence, and socio cultural opportunity. It is estimated that in India 10% of the school going children are dyslexics. More prevalent among boys than girls in the ratio 4 :1 . It is a neurological disorder. |

Madras Dyslexia Association offers for the parents regular counselling, and offers help to schools by conducting awareness programmes for teachers as well as setting up centres for on going consultancy. |
