"There are nearly 21.9 million disabled persons in India and many do not have access to modern rehabilitation. To make them face the world, they need to be equipped with appropriate education, physical training, vocational skills and academic proficiencies.
Mr. S. Sankara Raman, a Chartered Accountant and the Chief functionary of Amar Seva Sangam who is a wheel chair user, is taking part in Mumbai Marathon to raise charity for Amar Seva Sangam in the Dream Champion event and is committed to raise a minimum of Rs.1 million for the cause.
Your help will
1. Reach is more than 600 villages and the number of disabled persons served is more than 13,000.
2. Help a range of rehabilitation services in a 30 acre campus where Amar Seva Sangam has an integrated high school, a home and hostel for the disabled children and youth, a Spinal Injured Post-Acute Care Centre which is one of the few in India, a Special School for the mentally retarded children, a full-fledged computer centre, training in various vocational skills like handicrafts, tailoring, note-book binding and so on".
