Driver Room Extension Project
1.Need StatementAmar Seva Sangam is having a total of 16 vehicles such as buses, vans, cars, SUVs, a 3-wheeler and a tractor, of various capacities for the purposes of:
The drivers, whose job is very responsible and stressful, need space for a relaxed working environment in the office.
Currently, the Sangam’s Transport Section is working under a cramped shed of 16’ x 10’ size, roof covered by asbestos sheets, which is inadequate to house all the transport staff and records. Moreover, working under asbestos sheets is ill-advised. The present structure is planned to be demolished and a new structure will come up in the place under the Sangam’s Administrative Block.
Therefore, it is proposed to raise a separate building of 628 sq.ft., abutting the Administrative Block.
2.ObjectivesOur Transport Section handles various logistic activities, which is an innovative disability management whereby both care giving and mobility solutions are addressed, more particularly for the severely and profound persons with disabilities. This helps to improve their functionalities and increases their productivity and thereby they could contribute better for the society. By this process, the society can tap the full potentials of the persons with disabilities for overall betterment. The other objectives of our Transport Section are enumerated below:
- Ensure adequate working space for the staff of the Section
- Ensure convenient overnight stay of drivers/cleaners
- Ensure safety of all records and documents
- Improve the overall efficiency of the Section’s staff
- Create a good ambience for the transport staff

The sketch of the proposed building is as under:
In a day hundreds of poor/physically challenged students attend our Special School and the inclusive Higher Secondary School. Many of them are ferried by our vehicles from their residences and dropped back. Our Managing Committee Members, including our President and Secretary who are wheelchair users, use the vehicles extensively for greater reach of our programs and for brighter visibility of the Sangam. Most important, we have to receive and drop back our valued donors, well-wishers and guests, without whose support our programs cannot sustain.
In the light of the above, we humbly solicit your support for raising this building to ensure that the desired objectives are achieved.
