Her story begins at a mere 10 months old when she took her first steps into a life defined by mobility difficulties, ultimately leading to her never regaining her ability to walk.

Overcoming Polio & Thriving Through Education & Rehabilitation at Amar Seva Sangam

Sheranthi Thomas was affected by polio at the age of 10 months, resulting in muscle weakness that affected her ability to walk. Although she uses a wheelchair, her strength and independence have significantly improved through rehabilitation at Amar Seva Sangam.

Rehabilitation:

Sheranthi underwent tailored exercises, strengthening her muscles affected by polio.

Therapy exercises improved her mobility and overall muscle function.

Specialized sessions helped Sheranthi maintain a good posture, ensuring better body alignment and reducing posture-related issues.

Wheelchair training & engagement in games:

In my early school years in a local village, I often felt isolated and anxious about being ridiculed. However, my life took a remarkable turn in 2005 when I joined Amar Seva Sangam. The moment I stepped into this wonderful place, everything changed for the better. I started to feel a deep sense of belonging, and my interest in sports soared.

Amar Seva Sangam is more than just an institution; it’s a warm, caring community where I found the support and encouragement I needed. It was here that I conquered my fears and discovered my love for sports. Amar Seva Sangam became my nurturing home, where they not only recognized my potential but also celebrated my journey of empowerment and growth.
